Manager reveals intentions are to stay in Germany

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has rubbished reports claiming he’s agreed in principle to take over at Manchester City ahead of next season.

The reports emerged yesterday that the Spaniard was ready to swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League, but ahead of the club’s Champions League game with FC Barcelona, he has flat-out denied all talks of leaving Munich.

Pellegrini Replacement

It was suggested that Guardiola would leave the Allianz Arena and take over from Manuel Pellegrini, who faces the sack after a trophyless season at the Etihad Stadium.

Pellegrini fell short on all fronts this season and his job is under scrutiny ahead of the new season.

City’s Summer Changes

City are preparing to make drastic changes on the field over the Summer due to an ageing squad and a lack of homegrown players, but they could also make changes off it.

However, they won’t be persuading Guardiola to join as he has ruled out leaving Munich and has confirmed that he will be at the same club this time next year.

Guardiola Denies Reports

“I have said it 200 million times that I have one more year on my contract here,” Guardiola said.

“Next season I will be here and that’s all there is to it.

Guardiola is preparing to face his former-team ahead of tomorrow’s night return leg which sees Munich trailing 3-0 after a Lionel Messi masterclass in the first leg at the Nou Camp.

City To Turn To Klopp?

As for City, they could turn their attentions to another Bundesliga manager as Jurgen Klopp has announced he’s leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of the current season.
