Pep Guardiola says Manchester City players won’t be regretting if they fail to defend their Premier League title.

City kept their lead intact as Liverpool played a stalemate with Everton in the Merseyside derby. The Reds were aware of the possible impact but couldn’t penetrate the rock solid Toffees defence.

The Reds had built a healthy lead at the top but a number of disappointing performances helped their title rivals as City recovered their lost ground completely.

The memory of the 2013-14 would be still fresh where they lost the title to the Sky Blues as they failed to hold on to their momentum. City would be hoping for similar things but Guardiola insists they way they are playing currently losing the title won’t disappoint him.

“In the way we play, we play much, much better [than last season].

“Everybody knows exactly what we have to do, everybody helps each other. And when this happens, we can compete and if we lose, we lose, but no regrets.

“I know in our society just the first one has the credit and the second one is an absolute loser.

“But it is impossible to feel that about my players, it’s impossible.

“I don’t know what is going to happen but it is impossible to feel they are not good competitors, good players, good athletes, good everything seeing what we have seen this season.”
