Spaniard was eyeing up Arsene Wenger’s job

Pep Guardiola was ready to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, according to celebrity Gooner Piers Morgan.

The Spaniard has now agreed a deal in principle with Manchester City, agreeing to take over at the end of the season as he replaces Manuel Pellegrini, but all could have been different according to Morgan.

The journalist and presenter, who is an Arsenal fan desperate to see Wenger leave the club, has claimed that Guardiola was wanting the Emirates Stadium hot-seat and was eager to replace the Frenchman in North London.

However, Arsenal backed their current manager leaving Guardiola free to join City at the end of the season.

Piers Morgan Tweet

Morgan took to Twitter after seeing his side lose 2-1 at home to Swansea City to reveal the news about Guardiola wanting the Arsenal job.

“I was told on VERY good authority last night that Pep Guardiola wanted to come to Arsenal with Thierry Henry as his No2,” he tweeted.
