Peter Hill-Wood hints at Martinez replacing Wenger

Former-Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has dropped a massive hint that Everton boss Roberto Martinez could be the man to replace Arsene Wenger once he retires from the game or leaves his post at the club.

The Frenchman celebrates his 1,000th game in charge of Arsenal Football Club when his side goes to Stamford Bridge tomorrow to take on rivals Chelsea in a massive Premier League title-race, but with his contract expiring in the Summer, there are fears that the long-serving manager could depart the club.

Despite strong rumours that Wenger will sign a new deal as soon as this season is over, there are still small talks that the Frenchman will leave if the club fail to win a trophy this season, and when asked about a future replacement, the former-chairman at the club admitted that it could be Toffees man Martinez.

‘I’m sure Arsene will have some input in choosing his successor,’ Hill-Wood told the Telegraph.

‘Roberto Martinez? He seems like a good man.’
