FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has ruled out a return to the Premier League after revealing his plans to retire at the Nou Camp.
The Spaniard has been strongly linked with a return to Manchester United, and yesterday reports broke that Chelsea were keen on signing the commanding centre-back, but he has dealt the English sides a massive blow by revealing his future intentions.
The 27-year-old has revealed that he has no desire of leaving Spain and is aiming to retire at Barca.
Pique said: “I left a lot of friends there and was really happy there, even if I didn’t play as much as I wanted to.
“But I’ve always said I want to retire here and, if possible, stay here all my career.
“At this moment I’m not thinking about leaving, and I’m really happy if it’s true that United want me… but I want to stay.
“I’m a Barcelona fan, I have been since I was a kid, and I want to stay.”
