Joao Moutinho Fires Portugal into the Euro 2016

AS Monaco midfielder fired Portugal into the Euro 2016 after a narrow 1 nil win over Denmark with his 66th minute strike which was enough to book Portugal a place in Euro 2016.

Group I winners Portugal joined Northern Ireland as part of the qualified teams in the Euro 2016 following a 1-0 victory over Denmark in the Qualifiers which was played in Bragga. Joao Moutinho‘s 66th minute strike was enough for Portugal to secure a place for themselves in Euro 2016.

Portugal started slowly into the game as they knew that only a point would be enough for them to qualify but upped their tempo further into the game as they kept on knocking on Kasper Schmeichel door for the opener but could not come any sooner as the keeper was in top form. Nicklas Bendtner had an opportunity to put Denmark in front but blasted an excellent chance with a shot which went over the bar.

The final scoreline was Portugal 1-0 Denmark,Portugal qualifying thanks to a Joao Moutinho goal.

Qualified Teams.

Portugal’s win over Denmark meant that the Portuguese joined Austria, Czech Republic, England, Iceland and Northern Ireland in the Euro 2016 but this nu,mber could increase today as they are some games to be played later.

The Danes and Albania could join Portugal in Euro 2016 later as they are only a point behind.
