Zinedine Zidane replaces Spaniard

Real Madrid have announced the sacking of Rafael Benitez.

The La Liga giants are currently sitting third in La Liga, but are four points behind league-leaders Atletico Madrid following a 2-2 draw with Gary Neville‘s Valencia.

Benitez was a controversial appointment in the first place, with thousands of Madrid fans voicing their displeasure over the decision to hire him as manager.

Benitez Sacked

Benitez, who had successful stints in England with Liverpool and Chelsea, and also in Italy with Napoli, was hired by Florentino Perez because he could speak Spanish, but the plan has seemingly backfired.

Madrid have announced that assistant-manager and club legend Zidane will take over for the foreseeable future.

Zidane said: “I am going to put my heart and soul into this job so that everything works out well.”
