If reports are to be believed Antonio Conte is being lined up to replace Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have endured a tough spell this season having won just six games out of 13 matches in all competition. Lopetegui has failed to fill in the shoes of Zinedine Zidane and is on the brink of losing his job.
Real got past Viktoria Plzen 2-1 in the Champions League but they were pretty unimpressive for the most part of the game. As of now, Lopetegui will be in charge for the upcoming El Classico against Barcelona but any hiccups in this match would surely put a full stop to his Real Madrid tenure.
Conta has reportedly been approached for the lucrative post. The Italian departed Chelsea but is still being paid by the West London club as he is still entitled to the entire £9m salary.
Conte’s arrival could also dent a blow to Madrid’s Eden Hazard ambition. The Belgian has been the most sought after player in the transfer market and Los Blancos are monitoring him pretty closely.
But Conte’s handling of Hazard attracted severe criticism and it could influence Madrid’s decision.
