The club’s president has said a move would be ‘difficult’ for the club

Real Madrid may not make a move for David De Gea this summer, according to reports.

The Spanish side have had a massive interest in the goalkeeper over the last few seasons and were extremely close to signing him at one stage, only for a deal to collapse.

Many reports claimed that the La Liga club would make yet another move for the Spain international this summer but Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez has spoken out about a move – and he doesn’t seem so sure that a deal should be done.

Navas has had a good season

He feels that it would be ‘difficult’ to sign De Gea because they currently have Keylor Navas in goal, who had a rather impressive season as number one for the Spanish club and having two first-team level keepers battling it out for the position might not work out too well.

He said: “I am not the one who has to decide [about a bid for De Gea].  I would say it is very difficult to manage two great players in that position.”

They could very well decide to move for De Gea anyway if they feel he would be an upgrade from current keeper Navas. However, it seems they might more likely decide to stop pursuing the 25-year old, as they now seemingly already have a capable Casillas replacement in Navas.
