Manchester United have been knocked back in their attempts to sign Borussia Dormtund midfielder, Marco Reus, after the player insisted he has no intention of leaving the German club.

Reus has been linked with a move to Old Trafford repeatedly, and United were expected to make the player one of their top targets in the summer. But speaking to German magazine Kicker, the player denied the rumours and insists he is happy in the Bundesliga.

‘I can definitely say that I will play for Dortmund next season. I don’t have to keep stressing how well I feel here,’ he said.

‘After playing 10 years in the youth here I had to go a step back via Ahlen and Mönchengladbach to make two steps forward.’

‘Now I am back in Dortmund and – again – I feel totally well here and have a contract until 2017.’

The German has had a stellar season for Dortmund and Germany, scoring 21 goals in 41 appearances combined. He will be hoping that Dortmund can beat Bayern Munich and gain some silverwear when the two teams line up in the German Cup final on Saturday
