Manchester City right-back Micah Richards is reportedly about to earn himself a renewed and improved contract at the club. He signed a long-term deal in 2011, but it is understood that the new boss, Pellegrini, has identified the English defender as an integral player for the future, as he is still only 24 years old.

Richards, plagued by injury throughout this campaign is highly rated as one of the promising defenders in English football, and the blue side of Manchester is keen to tie him up on the long-term. His representatives are meeting the club in the following days to discuss what the future holds for the 24-year old.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror claims, that Manchester City’s dreams of signing Napoli-star Edinson Cavani are crushed, as the Uruguayan is understood to favor a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
