Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that striker Rickie Van Wolfswinkel will return to first-team training next week.

The Dutch striker has been sidelined with a toe injury since late October and he has been really missed by the Norfolk-based club as they are struggling near the foot of the Premier League.

The club’s record signing hasn’t quite made an impact in England as of yet, only scoring one goal in his eight appearances, and that came in the opening game with Everton back in August.

Speaking after seeing his side get thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool, Hughton revealed the latest on the striker.

“Van Wolfswinkel has done some running on his own and will return to training next week with a view to being involved against Swansea on 15 December.”

“It is the type of injury that if we push him it could get worse,” said Hughton. “But he’s pain free at the moment”.
