Football Pundit recommends Chelsea pursue Aaron Ramsdale amid Arsenal’s Goalkeeper dilemma
Following Robert Sanchez’s recent blunder against the Gunners, former footballer and Football pundit Robbie Earle suggested Chelsea to look into recruiting Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale. Earle discussed his idea that Ramsdale’s position at Arsenal, where he is out of favor, may make him a tempting option for Chelsea during a discussion on NBC Sports’ The 2 Robbies podcast.
“If I’m Chelsea, I’m phoning up and saying I’ll take Ramsdale, give me Ramsdale my friend. If you’re not going to use him, because Ramsdale is at the level you’re talking about,” he told The 2 Robbies.
“Ramsdale’s talking about he’ll have to go and play somewhere if he’s going to be in the Euros. If he’s overlooked by Arteta – I don’t know why Arteta wants the two goalkeepers and all that, and we’ve heard all the reasons behind it – if I’m Chelsea right now, I’d go and put it amongst them. I’d take Ramsdale because he’s at the level you’re talking about that Chelsea need.”
Ramsdale was missing for the most recent match against Chelsea, but his absence from Arsenal’s starting eleven caused concerns about his future with the club. David Raya has taken over as Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper, though he has received criticism for some disappointing performances.
While Arsenal may wish to keep both goalkeepers, the possibility of doing so appears doubtful, since Ramsdale and Raya both desire to play for their respective national teams. Earle’s comments came in the aftermath of Robert Sanchez’s error, which allowed Chelsea’s Declan Rice to score in a recent match.
Chelsea is apparently already watching Ramsdale’s condition in preparation for a January move. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are rumored to be interested in the goalkeeper, and Arsenal may consider selling him for approximately £60 million.
Chelsea’s purchase of Ramsdale might provide a solution to their goalkeeping issues as well as an opportunity for Ramsdale to prove his worth, especially if Raya’s form continues to decline in the coming months.
