Italy secured their place in the Euro 2020 knockout stages with a 1-0 win over Wales on Sunday.
Head coach, Roberto Martinez and his team have maintained a 100% record so far in the tournament.
“I was very pleased to see that I changed eight players and yet the team played well, could’ve scored more goals against a side that was very defensive,” said Mancini afterwards.
“When they went down to 10 men, they went even more defensive with everyone behind the ball. It’s not easy to find spaces in a situation like that.
“We were distracted on two set plays and almost paid a price for those, so we should’ve been more careful.”
Italy are due to face the runners-up of Group C in the first knockout round.
“A different tournament kicks off now. If the lads continue like this, then I could not ask for more,” Mancini added.
“We hope to play well and then return to Wembley further on in the competition.”
Ukraine and Austria are set to go up against each other in the final Group C tie while Netherlands have already confirmed their place in the Round of 16. Whoever wins will face off against Italy next.
