Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted that taking part in a Merseyside Derby was the best moment of his club career.

The on-loan Belgium forward from Chelsea scored a brace for The Toffees against Liverpool yesterday in a thrilling encounter which ended all square at 3-3.

It came as a shock to many people when Jose Mourinho decided to send the forward out on loan yet again this season, especially after his heroics last year for West Bromwich Albion, but Mourinho’s loss is definitely Roberto Martinez’s game and Lukaku has admitted that Saturday was his best ever experience.

‘The best experience I ever had in club football,’ he told BT Sport.

‘To play in such a derby is a great honour and to score two goals is great but the pity is we didn’t win.

‘The manager said before the that game last week that we also had a lot of chances but we had to stay positive and keep on working.

‘That’s what we did today, we did our best, especially my team-mates helped me to score two goals.’
