Zindane sweating on strikers fitness
Cristiano Ronaldo is to have a scan on a hamstring after being left strugging to walk at the end of Real’s 3-0 victory over Villarreal.
He left the field in some discomfort and on Friday will have a scan.
But despite having what manager Zinedine Zidane described as “a fright”, La Liga’s top scorer is expected to be fine for next week’s Champions League semi-final first leg and could even play against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
When questioned on Ronaldo’s knock, Madrid manager Zidane preached calm:
“Cristiano has felt something, but I think it’s just a scare.
“I hope it won’t be anything serious. Tomorrow we’ll calmly assess the situation.
“A player like Cristiano, sometimes he should rest, not finish a game, or sit it out. But he always wants to be out on the pitch.
“I can’t tell you anything else.”
