West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has stated that a deal for Ecuador striker Enner Valencia is nearing completition.

Valencia enjoyed a prolofic season with Mexican side Pachuca last season, scoring 18 goals in 23 League games, and impressed at the World Cup finals too, scoring three goals in three games for Ecuador.

And Allardyce told Sky Sports that a deal is almost complete.

“We’re very close, but nothing is ever certain in this game with new signings until they have actually signed on the dotted line.

“We are very hopeful, there has been a lot of negotiation done by the chairman and hopefully that will pay off in the next 72 hours.”

Once the deal is done, Valencia will join the likes of Mauro Zarate, Cheikhou Kouyate, Aaron Cresswell and Diego Poyet as new arrivals at Upton Park this summer, as West Ham look to improve on last season’s 14th place.
