Manchester City midfielder, Samir Nasri, has revealed why he didn’t join Manchester United after leaving Arsenal.

The Frenchman left The Gunners back in 2011 for £25million after agreeing terms with rivals-City, but according to the midfielder, he could have joined United instead.

However, Nasri has admitted that he chose against joining United because he didn’t want to go to war with the North London club.

In a recent interview, the 27-year-old admitted that he held talks with Sir Alex Ferguson and officials from Old Trafford, but eventually snubbed their interest and chose the blue-side of Manchester because he didn’t want to upset Arsene Wenger or the club.

‘We met with Sir Alex in Paris, in a hidden place, out of sight, so as not to fuel the rumours,’ Nasri told beIN Sports.

‘But there was one thing that was a problem; I was asked to go to war with Arsenal to be able to join. I could not see myself doing it, especially with Arsene Wenger.

‘After Man City showed their interest. [Roberto] Mancini called me every day during the holidays. I then decided that they really wanted me.’

Despite choosing City over United, Nasri is still a hated figure around the Emirates Stadium.
