Schurrle close to completing Wolfsburg switch

 

Andre Schurrle is set to join Wolfsburg for £22.5 million as he looks to end his Chelsea tenure after only 18 months with the Blues.

 

The 24 year-old has mainly featured as a substitute for the London club and with the imminent arrival of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina, Schurrle has been granted the opportunity to depart the Premier League.

 

The German only joined Jose Mourinho’s side in the summer of 2013 and despite impressing in his debut season, the World Cup winner has struggled to hold down a first team position since returning for this campaign.

 

With Mourinho purchasing a like for like replacement in Cuadrado, Schurrle has been allowed to return back to the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg for £4.5 million short of what the Premier League leaders purchased him for.
