Goalkeeper just needs to put pen to paper

Simon Mignolet has agreed to a five-year contract extension at Liverpool Football Club, according to reports, which will keep him at the club until 2021.

The Belgian has come under heavy scrutiny in recent months, but Jurgen Klopp is adamant that he’s the ‘keeper he wants in between the sticks at Anfield.

Mignolet has made several high-profile errors during his time at Liverpool, but the German manager has heavily praised him in recent times, claiming he’s one of the smartest people he’s ever worked with.

Liverpool are believed to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, which questions raised over back-up option Adam Bogdan, but Mignolet’s place in the first-team is under no immediate threat.

Contract Finalised

According to reports, all the formalities of the contract have been agreed to and all that’s left is for Mignolet to sign the deal.

The 27-year-old’s current deal expires in 2018, but officials at Liverpool want to wrap up the contract talks as quickly as possible.
