Emmanuel Adebayor has been out for a long time but he may return for Tottenhams upcoming game. Manager Andre-Villas Boas has said that the Togo international may make his first appearance this season. The striker was a vital player last season for the London side however he has been edged out of the running due to ÂŁ26 mil signing Soldado. Adebayor has only been on the bench once this season however he may just get put in the line-up for the upcoming match.

The 29 year old hasn’t been on international duty so the manager has been able to watch the striker more closely during training. Emmanuel has been away for a while on compassionate leave. The manager feels that Jermaine Defoe, Soldado & Emmanuel Adebayor are so close in ability that he’s having difficulties selecting two strikers as he is changing from a lone striker to two strikers against City. He claims that by selecting Adebayor are such a long break he is not doubting the ability of Soldado & Defoe.

Although it looks like the Emmanuel will be selected for the game, the manager is skeptical on picking him and his is known to get red carded against former clubs as he was sent off the last time he played against Arsenal. Boas thinks Spurs need a changed in striker because four years ago the lndon side beat Wigan Athletic 9-1 when they have only scored 9 goals this league season.

The new signing has scored 4 goals this season but only one of them was from open play. The spaniard has sasid that he has struggled to combine with his team-mates. All the while the striker has felt uncomfortable playing up front alone and felt that the manager should have given him some support and this may happen this weekend with Adebayor. Spurs don’t have Danny Rose due to injury so Jan Vertonghen may have to play left-back.

During the international break all of the players returned from their games fine apart from Eriksen who sprained his ankle whilst playing for Denmark. Tottenham may have had a poor form this season but their opponents haven’t been to good either after losing four games this season already although hopeful the manager wont underestimate Manchester City.
