Raheem Sterling is set to end all speculation about his future by signing a new long-term deal at Anfield.

The English winger has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past month after a string of high-quality performances, but when questioned about his future, Sterling admitted that talks are ongoing about a new deal.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene two seasons ago, before Brendan Rodgers decided to drop him for the second-half of the season in order to protect him.

However, Sterling was key in last season’s title-race, and he has continued that form into this season.

When asked about a potential new contract, Sterling said: ‘The club has spoken to my representatives and hopefully something can be done really soon,’ Sterling said.

‘Hopefully I can achieve the goals I want to achieve here at Liverpool in years to come.

‘I am happy to be here for as long as possible, like the big names that are on that wall.

‘I am just happy to play at this football club for many years to come.’
