Raheem Sterling is set to be offered a new contract a new contract only 18 months after signing a deal that increased his salary by 1700%. According to some reports, Liverpool have agreed to negotiate a new contract with the winger after the World Cup comes to an end. The 19-year-old could be looking at a contract worth ÂŁ100,000 per week if he returns back home with an even further enhanced reputation.

The Jamaica-born winger still has 3 years left on the contract he signed in December 2012 which took his salary up from ÂŁ2,000 per week to ÂŁ35,000 per week. However, his development since then has been even more astonishing.Sterling was proficient under the advice of Brendan Rodgers last season which saw Liverpool produce their biggest title challenge for 24 years.

His form impelled England manager Roy Hodgson to give the 19-year-old a place in England’s squad for Brazil. The expectation is that Sterling will be granted a first-team place for England’s World Cup opener against Italy in Manaus on June 14. If the Queens Park Rangers academy graduate does shine at the World Cup, then Liverpool will push even further to secure his future at Anfield.
