Steve Clarke sacked by the Baggies

West Bromwich Albion have sacked Steve Clarke tonight, after suffering a fourth straight defeat, losing to Cardiff. One goal enough for Cardiff to gain victory over West Brom, a victory that cost Clarke his job.

West Brom find themselves two points above the relegation zone and have only won 7 out of 34 Premier League games in 2013. After some positive results against the top teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, they have struggled to gain victories and even struggled to avoid defeats leading to four losses on the bounce.

West Brom statement on Clarke: It was a unanimous decision by the board of directors following a disappointing performance throughout 2013.

This was Clarkes first venture into management and he had gained many plaudits for a very successful first season. However without the likes of Lukaku this season, results have not been as easy to come by.

The club revealed only last month plans to hold contract talks with the Scot in the New Year. Although recent results have clearly changed their plans and Steve Clarke is now on Gardening leave.

There has been no statement so far on how long it will take to find a new manager, and only in the next twenty four hours will fans reactions be heard over this decision.
