Manchester United have been given a massive boost in their pursuit of Kevin Strootman as the Roma man is set to return from a long-term injury.
United wanted to sign him in the summer but a cruciate ligament injury had sidelined Strootman back in April.
Van Gaal is said to be highly interested in the midfielder after working with him in the Dutch national squad but the United boss wants to see Strootman in action first before making an offer in January. Strootman is said to be lining up for the Roma ‘B’ team in a friendly this weekend before being re-introduced to the first team.
Van Gaal is desperate to get United’s season back on track but the Italians are desperate to keep their midfield star.
