Thomas Muller has recently revealed that Manchester United nearly lured him into a move to Old Trafford this summer, but decided to stay at Bayern Munich. United manager Louis Van Gaal is said to be a major admirer of the 24-year-old, who sparkled at the recent World Cup, scoring 5 goals for his country in Brazil. Speaking about United for the first time, Muller admitted that he did receive an offer from the Premier League club, but insisted that he never serioulsy considered leaving Bayern. ‘Of course,’ he told Bild when asked if United were close to signing him.‘I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer.
‘The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me.’
The cost of the transfer would have cost United £35 million and after their difficult opening of the new season, many fans will be imprecating their luck.
