Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a bid of €68 million for Real Betis and Argentina midfielder Giovani lo Celso.

According to El Transistor, Spurs have tabled a bid of €68 million (£61 million) for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The report claims that Real Betis will receive €42 million due to the transfer rights of other teams.

Lo Celso joined Real Betis on loan from PSG last year. The 23-year old made 46 appearances for Real Betis last season, scoring 16 goals and providing 6 assists. Lo Celso’s performances in the Europa League were particularly good, netting 5 goals and providing 2 assists in 7 matches. However, Betis could only reach the last 32 of the competition where they lost to Rennes.

The Argentina midfielder’s performances propelled Real Betis to trigger the clause to sign him on a permanent basis. Following an impressive season with Re    al Betis, Lo Celso also impressed in the Copa America with Argentina, scoring a goal in the quarter-final against Venezuela and providing an assist in the third-place encounter against Chile as La Albiceleste finished the tournament in third position.

After reaching the final of the Champions League, Spurs are eager to bolster their squad. The North Londoners have already added Tanguy Ndombele to their squad on a club record transfer of £55 million. Given how Lo Celso has performed for Betis, his addition will help Spurs.

Provided Betis do accept Spurs bid of £61 million, Lo Celso will become the club’s record signing.
