The Englishman has been a long-time target of Zinedine Zidane.
Raheem Sterling has told Diario AS that he expects a tough battle at the Santiago Bernabeu. When he was asked if he has been following Madrid’s improvement, he said: “It is always going to be a difficult game whether they are in a good or a bad moment.
“Just because of the atmosphere, the historic stadium. It’s going to be a difficult game. Especially now that they are doing really well, but at the same time I’ve got full confidence in our team and if we get it right on the day, I believe we can win.
Sterling: “Playing for Real Madrid one day? Right now I’m at City and I have to respect that as I’m really happy and have a contract here. But I’d say that Real Madrid are a fantastic club, when you see the white shirt you know exactly what the club stands for, it’s massive.” pic.twitter.com/fTFe7SDZgE

He was also asked whether he sees himself becoming a Madridista soon. “It’s one of those things… Right now I’m at City and I’m really happy,” he said. “But I say Real Madrid are a fantastic club, when you see the white shirt you know exactly what the club stands for, it’s massive. But at the same time, I have a contract with City now and I have to respect this. But it’s a fantastic club.”
The English star has been a long-time Madrid target as Los Blancos attempted to sign him in summer 2019. Sterling is tied to City until 2023 but the club are willing to keep him longer. The Premier League side want him to sign a new long-term deal. Meanwhile, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to swoop in, as per The Telegraph.
