Unai Emery feels Arsenal are gradually closing the gap with Liverpool following their 4-2 derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners have recovered an exemplary amount of ground in the last few matches and their stupendous display helped them in breaking into the top four. Emery has taken very little time to understand the legacy of the club and the Spaniard manager has overseen an entire overhaul since arriving in North London.

Nobody would have imagined Arsenal would become a potent force and would challenge for the Premier League title. The North London giants are scheduled to travel to Manchester to take on Manchester United and a win in this match would further stamp their authority in the top flight

Emery said, “Some teams are more advantaged than us.

“One of which is very clear, Manchester City.

“The difference at the moment between Liverpool and [us] is not very big, but it is an important difference also.

We are now in terms of points, performances and the goals we’re scoring, with Chelsea and Tottenham. This is the reality. We want to progress but we are not thinking of them.

Emery also opens up on the challenge of facing United at the Old Trafford. “It’s a big challenge because it is away and we need to improve our mentality away

“We know we need to change. We need to be more competitive away. I think the team is doing that.

“It is a new challenge [against United] and the challenge is bigger than other matches.”
