Manchester United are set to bid £20 million for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen.
Reports suggest that the club are so desperate to secure the signing of another midfielder this summer window, that they have been forced to look for alternative targets from rival clubs.
As it appears United have missed out on the likes of Arturo Vidal and Nigel De Jong, they have no decided to turn their attentions to Allen and will look to submit a bid in the coming days.
Allen is yet to fully establish himself at Anfield, and with various new signings offering competition for places, the Welshman could well look to move on.
It is understood that any deal for the player to join United would happen in the closing stages of the transfer window, even on deadline day.
