Marouane Fellaini has decided to leave Manchester United after rejecting a second contract offer from Ed Woodward, according to reports.

The 30-year-old has had a strained relationship with Manchester United fans, but Jose Mourinho has often hailed him as one of his most important players at Old Trafford.

The Belgian midfielder made over 100 league appearances for United since signing from Premier League rivals Everton in 2013.

Fellaini turned down an offer to extend his contract at United last September. He has now rejected a second approach from executive vice-chairman Woodward, according to the Daily Star.

It is claimed Fellaini wants a longer deal, knowing this could well be the last substantial contract he signs. He is said to be in talks with Serie A giants Roma.

Mourinho will still hope to tie Fellaini down to a new deal but the midfielder is ready to run down his contract and have a choice of clubs to join at the end of the season.
