New Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal has already drawn up a list of targets to sign this summer, starting with Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.

Van Gaal is currently managing Strootman international level, where Holland are preparing for this years World Cup which will be the managers last for the Netherlands.

It is known that both the player and the manager have a very close bond and now that Van Gaal has walked into Old Trafford today, a deal is expected to be struck.

Manchester United have also been linked heavily with Netherlands midfielder Jordie Clasie. It is expected that Van Gaal will begin a ÂŁ200 million spending spree once the window opens.

When questioned about Clasie to United, Dutch football expert, Marcel van der Kraan claims that Strootman is Van Gaals main target.

Speaking on he told Hawksbee and Jacobs: “No, not at all. He only plays him at the moment for Holland because he doesn’t have Kevin Strootman.”

If I was a Manchester United fan I would look forward to the moment Strootman comes to Old Trafford. He’s a clear favourite of Van Gaal.

“He won’t come now. They can’t even do an advanced transfer because the guy suffered cruciate knee ligament damage about a month ago.

“Even if they wanted to sign him now he wouldn’t get through a medical. I can see him signing in January though.”
