West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi on loan this month.
The Hammers made a £31m bid to Olympique de Marseille for the forward during the summer transfer window, despite interest from London rivals Tottenham, but the 23-year-old Belgian forward moved to Chelsea in a £33m deal instead.
Batshuayi impressed all three London clubs during his time with Olympique de Marseille racking up a formidable 27 goals in 63 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, and the Chelsea man also has 9 caps for his country, contributing 3 goals after making his senior debut for Belgium in 5-0 victory over Cyprus in 2015.
However, since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Belgium international has found himself firmly behind an in form and changed Diego Costa, and has yet to start a league game so far this season for the Blues.
Chelsea are also reportedly in talks with Swansea City over a potential loan move for Batshuyai, with Fenrnando Llorente heading in the opposite direction, a story we brought to you earlier this week via SillySeason’s Pradyumna Tembhekar.
With West Ham reportedly having already had bids turned down for Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe and Brentford’s Scott Hogan, Slaven Bilic’s side will be hoping that Chelsea opt to send the out of favour Batshuayi – Who scored in Chelsea’s recent 4-1 FA Cup victory over Peterborough to the Hammers as opposed to Wales.
With this news breaking, Chelsea fans must be wondering if this spells trouble for the Belgian striker, and if he is indeed part of Blues Boss Antonio Conte long term plans.
Some fans will no doubt understand the thinking behind the idea, with Llorente providing Chelsea with an experienced striker who will happily play second fiddle to main man up front Costa, whilst Batshuyai will gain valuable Premier League experience at the Liberty Stadium, but if the choice is made to send the forward over to East London, many fans may be wondering what the future holds for the 23-year old.
