Arsenal’s hotheaded midfielder Jack Wilshere faces a ban from the Football Association after making a hand gesture to Manchester City supporters, during his sides 6-3 defeat away at Manchester City this lunchtime.

Wilshere appeared to use the gesture in a reaction to ironic cheers after protesting to referee Martin Atkinson’s awarding of a goal-kick to City.

The England midfielder had a troubled first half, which was picked up on by both home and away supporters, provoking Wilshere to perform the gesture.

The midfielder ended up enduring a frustrating afternoon as the home side secured a deserved victory to climb to second in the Barclays Premier League and move three points shy of Arsene Wenger’s team.

The gunners also have a nasty looking injury to defender Laurent Koscielny , who was forced off with a knee injury at the end of the first half.

International teammates Mesut Ozil and Per Metersacker head a very public on pitch bust up, after Ozil refused to go over to the travelling away supporters, to acknowledge their support in what was a devestating defeat for the North London side.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger commented on the incident in his usual defensive style by stating…..

‘I didn’t see that,’ said Wenger when asked about the incident.

‘I don’t know if he did it. If he did it and he receives a ban, we will have to accept it.

Wilshere has hit the headlines alot in recent months or so, as he was caught smoking back in October, in yet another media overreaction.
