Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has taken a dig at fierce-rivals Manchester United by claiming that they are struggling to retain their title.

The Red Devils have not had the best of starts to the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign as they try and move on from the Sir Alex Ferguson era, but unfortunately for David Moyes, it hasn’t got as smoothly as planned.

Defeats to City, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion have left United eighth in the table, already eight points behind league-leaders Arsenal and Toure believes they are really struggling this season already.

He said in The Sun: “United will find it hard to defend the title since they have a new manager and are really struggling.

Despite Arsenal being top at the moment, Toure believes Liverpool could be the surprise contenders.

“Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers – Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge – are scoring goals at will.”
