Striker is enjoying proving doubters wrong at Manchester United

Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed he is enjoying ‘making critics eat their words’ after impressing in the Premier League this season.

The Swede striker announced that he would join Manchester United in July this year for this season, and was met by doubts from journalists, rival fans and pundits that he would not be able to perform in the league due to his age.

However, despite a mixed start, his performances have spoken for themselves, and he has scored 17 goals in 27 games.

He said: “Every year the Premier League has been calling me but I wanted to come here when everyone thought I was over the hill.

“They said it would not be possible but I always make them eat their words.”

The Swede scored 50 goals in 2016, second only to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi over the calendar year.

Ibrahimovic said: “Criticism gives me a lot of energy.

“Critics get paid to talk rubbish. I get paid to play with my feet. That is how I enjoy it.”
