Ron Vlaar’s agent confirms he is likely to leave

0

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar is set to leave Aston Villa in January after contract talks stalled leaving him with just months left on his current deal.

With his contract expiring next June, Vlaar has interested Manchester United and Arsenal, who will be looking to add depth to their defensive department.

Vlaar’s agent Arnold Oosterveer said: “It is obvious that for Ron, now is the moment to make a nice big move in his career.

“Ron is very ambitious. The situation is ideal for Ron right now. You can imagine that we are not in a hurry.

“I don’t want to react to the rumour that he will move to either Arsenal or Man United, but Ron is very ambitious.”

The Dutch international signed for the Birmingham-based club in 2012.

Xherdan Shaqiri: I wanted to join Liverpool

0

The Switzerland international put in some brilliant performances at the World Cup in Brazil which grabbed the attention of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and sparked a potential bid in the doing.

And now several reports are revealing that Liverpool representatives held negotiations with Shaqiri’s agent about the potential switch to Merseyside.

Shaqiri was tantalisingly close to joining the Reds in the summer, but German champions Bayern Munich pulled out of the deal at the last minute, keeping the Swiss at the Allianz Arena.

And the 23-year-old has now admitted to his disappointment about the deal falling through, saying that he wanted a change following the World Cup in which he sparkled.

“It was known that I wanted to do something in the summer. After the World Cup I felt that it would be better for me to try something new,” he told German newspaper Blick when asked about Liverpool.

“I thought of a change and had a lot of requests.

“Then FC Bayern decided that I should stay. In that case, you cannot do much as a player. But I feel very good at Munich, too.”

Shaqiri is under contract at Bayern Munich until the end of next season and has hinted about holding discussions regarding his future with club officials in the upcoming new year.

He has also spoken out about his unhappiness under Pep Guardiola in Germany, complaining about his lack of first-team football.

The Swiss has only made eight appearances for Bayern Munich in the league this season, only starting on a solitary occasion.

Raheem Sterling reveals future plans

0

Liverpool and England ace Raheem Sterling has detailed where he would like to be in five years time.

The 19 year old winger has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, culminating in coming agonisingly close to lifting the Premier League title with Liverpool, as well as cementing a place in the England national side, and despite Liverpool’s poor start to the season, Sterling has continued to impress.

When asked about his plans over the next five years, Sterling was optimistic, saying, “hopefully winning trophies with Liverpool, doing well for England, and trying to be at the peak of my game at that time.”

Sterling also spoke of his club manager, Brendan Rodgers, who’s wisdom has apparently been a guiding light.

“The best piece of advice I’ve been given is to live, eat and sleep football, it was great advice given to me by the manager and it has helped me going forward.

Schurrle hits back at Chelsea exit rumours

0

Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has taken to social media to respond to rumours he could be on his way out of the club.

German World Cup winner Schurrle was one of multiple players singled out for criticism by boss Jose Mourinho for the performance against Shrewsbury.

The Blues squeezed past their League 2 opponents 2-1 in the Capital One Cup tie.

But after the criticism by Mourinho, it appeared that Schurrle was heading for the exit door.

But the star took to the social media site Instagram to prove he wants to stay, posting a picture of him pointing to the sky in his Chelsea kit.

The picture had alongisde it the words “To the top:)) #behappy #blues”

German football expert Rephael Honigstein reckons that criticism of Mourinho may be over the top.

He told talkSPORT:”I think it’s almost a good sign that Mourinho keeps talking about him, saying he needs to play better, because as long as Mourinho says these things about you, you think you have a good chance.

“Remember how he always used to criticise Eden Hazard?

“I think it’s when it goes very quiet, that’s when you know you’re on your way out.

” So I still think he’s got a great future and if he gets fit, and performs like he did at the World Cup, where he played at the highest level, then he can still grow as a player.”

Arsenal Target Roma’s Destro

0

Arsenal have lined up Roma striker Mattia Destro as Lukas Podolski’s replacement, as the German international is set to depart for the Bundesliga due to his lack of playing time at the Emirates.

Chelsea are admirers of Italian youngster Destro, but after Loic Remy was brought in as one of three new strikers at the Bridge this summer, it is highly unlikely that Destro would get a sniff in the Blues team. It now seems more likely that the 23 year-old could be heading for the Gunners to fight it out with Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud for the starting berth.

Since arriving at the Stadio Olimpico, the forward has netted 22 goals in 49 appearances. But, under current boss Rudi Garcia, the former Genoa man has had to settle for playing time off the bench, playing second best to club stalwart Francesco Totti.

It has been reported that Arsene Wenger has a £20 million January transfer kitty, but most have been calling for defensive reinforcements. However, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Destro was to be a January arrival at the Emirates.

Martinez hints at potential move to Liverpool

0

Jackson Martinez has hinted at a proposed move to Liverpool in the summer.

The Colombian international has impressed whilst at Portuguese club, Porto, and has been a prime target for Premier League sides.

Reports suggest that Martinez is on the lookout to leave in the summer, with Liverpool being the proposed destination.

Liverpool are keen to land the striker Martinez, aged 28, with their current strike partnerships failing to succeed at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers will be keen to get a £30 million deal done, with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini failing to make a mark.

And Martinez has revealed that he hopes to secure a move to England.

“My agent is in charge of the negotiations. I prefer to stay out of it.

“At the end of this season I hope to get some interesting proposals.”

In the summer the ‘Alpine Messi’, as he is affectionately known in his native Switzerland, was close to a move to Liverpool, however talks broke down at a late stage of the transfer window. Shakiri himself has previously expressed frustration at this, citing that it was down to Bayern being unwilling to let him go.

The exciting Swiss international, who can play both as a winger and a No. 10, impressed at this years World Cup in Brazil. For this reason, and the talent and ability he has shown throughout his career with Bayern and Basel, he has had a number of offers from a whole host of European club. Di Matteo eyes Schurrle deal

0

German star Andre Schurrle is being monitored by former boss Roberto Di Matteo, with the manager ready to bring the player to his home country.

The World cup winner has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, after successive disappointing performances in the Capital One Cup and the Premier League so far this season .

Mourinho has even publically criticised Schurrle by responding to questions whether he was disappointed with the performance that the German gave against Shrewbury back in October.

And now it is understood that the winger could be allowed to leave in January with former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo offering the player a way out of the Premier League.

Norweigan Wonderkid agrees to Reds trials

0

Norweigan starlet Martin Odegaard has accepted an invitation to attend trials with Liverpool FC next month.

The 15 year old Stromsgodset player has been tracked of late by a whole host of Europe’s elite clubs, most notably Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Ajax after impressing in his first season in senior football.

He has even recently visited Real’s training facilities in Spain, and was reported to have visited Manchester last summer to have preliminary talks with the United. However Liverpool are the first team he has accepted trials from so far.

Odegaard made his debut for the Norweigan national senior side last year, becoming the youngest player ever to feature in a European qualifier.

Martin and his father are openly fanatical Liverpool fans, so his acceptance of Liverpool’s invitation wont come as a shock to those who know him. He recently said in an interview with German paper Sport Bild, “Liverpool have always been my dream club.”

Brendan Rodgers also had his say on the exciting winger, in a typically level-headed fashion. After Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, he said to journalists, “Hes a big talent, at that age to be playing senior football and in a competitive league is remarkable. He’s got wonderful ability and wonderful talent, but there’s nothing much more to say about him yet.”

Odegaard was born December 17th 1998, and has already made 20 appearances for Tippeligaen side Stromsgodset’s senior team, as well as two international caps for Norway despite only very recently completing his compulsory education.

Why I didn’t leave Liverpool to join Arsenal

0

The Former Reds star was lined up by the Gunners before the begin of last season.

They made a £40m offer – in addition to a quid – keeping in mind the end goal to initiate a discharge proviso in his Liverpool contract.

Anyway Suarez selected to stay at Anfield in the wake of holding crunch converses with commander Gerrard

“We spoke about this when I went to Melwood to pick up my things at the end of the summer and he said: ‘You did the right thing, you waited until the best moment.’

“He had told me to play well for Liverpool, give it another year and it will be Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona coming for you and then you can go where you want, because you have the quality to play at any of those three clubs.”

Suarez hit 31 Premier League goals last season before a £75m move to Barcelona in the summer.

The Uruguay hitman, 27, is still a favourite at Anfield and made the move with Gerrard’s blessing.

The Anfield skipper said: “His [Suarez’s] wife is from Barcelona and I don’t think you can begrudge a player like that, who has worked so hard for his dream.

“You can’t go against him when he says he is leaving for Barcelona. His dream from the first day he came was to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“Last summer when he was out in the cold and training on his own that’s the conversation I had with him. I said: ‘Don’t go to Arsenal’.

“I would have been really sad and disappointed to see Luis go to Arsenal. With all due respect to them, I said to him that he was too good for Arsenal.”

‘Matic motivated us before Liverpool clash’, says Azpilicueta

0

Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta, has revealed that it was down to Nemanja Matic’s pre-match team-talk that motivated the players to see off Livepool.

The Spanish international revealed that the Serbian rallied the team ahead of kick-off at Anfield, and The Blues went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa.

Jose Mourinho’s men did go 1-0 down after Emre Can gave the hosts the lead, but two goals from the visitors saw the three-points return to Stamford Bridge.

After the game, Azpilicueta revealed that Matic was the man that rallied the players and it was his speech that got the team motivated.

“He just said if we want to be champions then we needed to win the game,” Azpilicueta told the club’s website.

“It’s our target to be champions and when you go to the stadiums where it’s really hard you have to do a very good job.”

As well as Azpilicueta, the club-captain, John Terry, also revealed that Matic’s talk was very motivating as well.

“It was very inspiring. Everyone takes their turn before the game and he did very well,” he told BT Sport.

“He’s been different class since he came back [from Benfica this summer] and he’s a real player for the team. He’s been at the heart of some great team performances.”

Chelsea renew interest in Tottenham’s Paulinho

0

Chelsea are set to renew their interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Paulinho, after the Brazilian admitted that he may leave White Hart Lane.

The 26-year-old, who started his career in North London on fire, has been dropped recently by Mauricio Pochettino and has already hinted that it may be time for him to leave Spurs.

It was reported in the Summer that Chelsea may make a move for the holding-midfielder, but nothing materialised from the reports and he remained at Tottenham.

However, after failing to break into the first-team, Paulinho has admitted that he may be tempted to leave the club next Summer, with Chelsea keen on renewing their interest.

He told Lancenet: “Players always wants to play. I am participating in a few games at Tottenham. Maybe it’s the opportunity to go back.

“There is interest of Brazilian clubs, but nothing concrete yet. I’m glad to have a recognition, I feel proud.

“Tottenham invested very big money to transfer me there, but I can work or not, like any other player.

“I do not have to think about transferring, but any player is subject to transfer when the window opens.”

Despite admitting that a move back to Brazil may be an option, Paulinho could be attracted with a move to Stamford Bridge if the chance arises.
