Atletico preparing £20M bid for Mata

0

Atletico Madrid are preparing a £20M bid for unsettled Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.

Mata has struggled to nail down a first-team spot at Old Trafford this season after the arrivals of Agel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, and the emergence of Adnan Januzaj.

United paid £37.1M to Chelsea for Mata in January, but are considering taking a loss of £17.1 on him.

The player has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, and Juventus are also keen.

But Atletico boss Diego Simeone sees the fact that United are prepared to take such a loss of Mata as a chance to tempt Mata back to his homeland.

United fans are perplexed as to why Mata has not been given more game-time, given United’s stuttering season so far.

The Red Devils lie in seventh place going into the international break, thirteen points behind leaders Chelsea, and suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss at MK Dons in the Capital One Cup.

Mata has only completed three 90-minute matches this season, which is a clear sign that his future may lie elsewhere.

FC Barcelona keen on signing Koke

0

Spanish giants, FC Barcelona, are hopeful they can see off interest from Manchester City and Chelsea in order to sign Koke from Spanish rivals, Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga champions managed to hold onto their star-midfielder over the Summer, despite the English duo’s interest, but now they face a new challenge as Barca look set to ramp up their interest.

According to reports, Barcelona officials wanted to sign Koke last Summer, but when the opportunity to sign Luis Suarez arose, they couldn’t turn that down and the bulk of their finances went on signing the Uruguayan from Liverpool.

Officials at the Nou Camp are aware that current-star, Xavi, is set to leave the club in the near-future, and they have their hearts set on signing Koke as his replacement.

The 22-year-old was brilliant last season for Diego Simeone’s men and was key to their La Liga success and their route to the Champions League final.

Despite signing Cesc Fabregas from Barca in the Summer, it’s believed Chelsea would also be interested in Koke if the player was put up for sale, but they’d face competition from title-rivals, Manchester City, who are working hard on finding a Yaya Toure replacement.

Gareth Bale has no intentions of returning to England

0

According to reports in Spain, Gareth Bale is NOT looking for a return to England, despite both Manchester United and Chelsea interested in signing him.

The Welshman, who cost Madrid £85million back in the Summer of 2013, had a superb debut in Spain, scoring in both the Copa Del Rey final and the Champions League final, but has since lost his place in the first-team due to the performances of Isco.

Liverpool and Spurs eye up Schurrle

Chelsea have been linked with other wingers in the lead up to January’s transfer window such as Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus and reports have now claimed that the West London side have allowed Schurrle to leave.

A number of top European sides are said to have been linked with the 24 year-old including Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid but it is believed that Tottenham and Liverpool have now joined the race.

Mauricio Pochettino and Brenden Rodgers have both endured poor starts to the season and will be hoping to land the German international as they look to add strength to their attacks and get their season back on track.

He said: “I don’t think there’s much to [the rumours], they’re just idle comments.

“When you talk about something you know nothing about, you end up kicking up a storm for no reason.

“Sport is a game which holds many possibilities, but in this case they are unlikely to be feasible. I don’t imagine that Laporta would bring in Mourinho and Ronaldo.”
