Top 10 Worst Liverpool Players Of All Time

Previously we published lists on the Top 10 Worst Premier League Players in History and Top 10 Ugliest Footballers . When you are done reading this list don’t hesitate to check out these links.

Here are the Top 10 Worst Liverpool Player signings of all time:

10. Sean Dundee

Kick starting the list of the worst Liverpool Players of all time is Sean Dundee who played for the Kop 1998-199 playing for one of the biggest clubs for only a single year. The South African born footballer had a decent goal scoring spell in Germany which allowed him to get a German passport but was never called up by the national team. In 1998 Sean Dundee joined Premier League side Liverpool which was a dream move by the South African but the player only ended after zero goals in five appearances for the Merseyside reds.

9. Chris Kirkland

The ninth worst Liverpool player of all times is Chris Kirkland who played for Liverpool from 2001-2006, during his time at Coventry he was regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers, he was later signed by one of the biggest clubs in the country, Liverpool.

This player only made a few appearances for the Kop, Chris was not necessarily a bad player but his time at Liverpool was interfered with a number of injuries which kept him out of the team. In his second season with Liverpool he took first choice from Dudek who made a couple of costly errors, he went on to play 14 consecutive games keeping six clean sheets utill he got injured when he got ack he fell to third in the pecking order at Liverpool, Finally in 2005 the arrival of Pepe Reina left him fourth choice goalkeeper and was forced to join West Bromwich Albion.

For a player who was regarded to be one of the most promising young goalkeepers he only managed a single cap for the England national team.

8. Andriy Voronin

Andriy Voronin takes up eighth place on the list of the Top 10 Worst Liverpool Players Of All Time. Ukrainian international played for Liverpool for three years, actually only two years as he spent one year on loan to Hertha Berlin in German Bundesliga. Andriy Voronin joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2007 on a free transfer he signed a four year deal with the club.

In his first season with Liverpool he scored six goals but failed to find the back of the net when he returned to Liverpool on loan from Hertha BSC, IN 2010 he was sold to Dynamo Moscow for £4 million. The only positive thing about this player coming to Liverpool was that the Kop made a profit out of him. Watch & Bet Football Live >

7. Antonio Nunez

Antonio Nunez takes up seventh place on the Top 10 Worst Liverpool Players of all time. After the arrival of Rafael Benitez as Liverpool manager, the Spaniard needed to make a few signings to strengthen his squad and Antonio Nunez was his second signing since his arrival. This player was part of the swap deal when Michael Owen joined Real Madrid and Munez went the other direction to Liverpool, the Kop received £8 million for Owen and this player.

Real Madrid got the better deal out of this transfer saga as Munez faced injuries and when he got back he only managed to score a single goal during his short stint at the club, The only thing he will remember at Liverpool was winning the Champions League in 2005 all courtesy to him making the bench for the English club.

6. Fernando Morientes

Morientes just couldn’t adapt to the Premier League style of play and that’s why this player is in sixth position. Fernando Morientes is another player on this list who joined Liverpool from Spanish giants Real Madrid. He joined the kop in 2005 from Real Madrid where he won three European cups he could have won another with Liverpool in his debut season but was cup tied in the Champions League.

This player had an impressive goal scoring form at Real Madrid before joining Liverpool. He managed to rack up 60 appearances for the Kop, only finding the back of the net 12 times which was not quite impressive for a player of his quality. He only spent 18 months at Liverpool and joined Valencia where he seemed to regain his form.  So all we can say is that this player only failed to adapt to the style of play in the Premier League.

5. Joe Cole

Joe closes down on the top five of the Top 10 Worst Liverpool Players Of All Time. The Englishman joined Liverpool from rivals Chelsea in 2010 on a free transfer and Steven Gerrard was not late to react to the transfer as he said Joe was just as good as Lionel Messi. I’m guessing a statement he came to regret later.

After joining Liverpool he got sent off in the first half of his debut for Liverpool, he later sustained a number of injuries hence failing to be a success at Liverpool, the following season he was loaned to Lille. The Englishman is currently a football pundit and has retired from the game.

4. Robbie Keane

In fourth is Robbie Keane, after a fantastic season at White Hart line, Robbie Keane was scooped by Liverpool in 2008 in order to form a deadly partnership with Fernando Torres. But it didn’t seem to work out as the number 10, Steven Gerrard, preferred the Spaniard to him, so Keane only stayed six months at Liverpool before he was sold back to Tottenham but did not have as much impact as he had before joining Liverpool.

Robbie Keane is the current assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland national team and Middlesbrough.

3. El Hadji Diouf

El Hadji Diouf kicks off the top three of the Top 10 worst Liverpool players of all time. He joined Liverpool after a successful FIFA World Cup in 2002 with Senegal when they reached the quarter finals. He went on to impress the Liverpool fans when he scored in his first home game for the Kop after that goals where scarce for the Senegalese who became the first number 9 to go a season without scoring a single goal for the Merseyside Reds.

2. Andy Carroll

One of the most recent Liverpool players makes this list of the Top 10 Worst Liverpool Players Of All Time and it’s Englishman Andy Carroll. After having a break through season with Newcastle United, Liverpool splashed out £35 million for the Englishman’s services. He joined the club the same day as Luis Suarez,  so Andy Carroll was brought in as a replacement for Fernando Torres who joined Chelsea for a staggering £50 million.

He only managed to score 11 goals for the Kop in one and half year at Liverpool and was loaned to West Ham United who later bought him for a fee of £15 million. Watch & Bet Football Live >

1. Paul Konchesky

Finally the worst ever Liverpool player is Paul Konchesky. Paul Konchesky joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2010 under the management of Roy Hodgson, a move many considered that the manager was confused to bring in this player at left back who never seemed to know his playing position. Danny Dalglish’s arrival at the Kopites saw Konchesky go out on loan to Nottingham Forest in 2011 and was sold at the end of the season to Leicester City. He is now running a pie shop and does not have a club so one can assume he is retired/ a free agent.
