Boston Marathon 2024: Prize Money
Elite Boston Marathon runners take home more than just the glory of the race — the fastest man and woman each take home a six-figure check as well. Watch & Bet on Sport =>
John Hancock Financial Services are putting up $860,000 in prize money this year to the top finishers of the overall race, masters, and push-rim wheelchair divisions.
The fastest man and woman each walk away with $150,000. Second place for each category takes home $75,000, and third place receives $40,000.

People in wheelchairs also have a competitive segment. Their prize money went up since the 2018 race. The winners are set to receive $25,000 which is $5,000 more than in 2017. Second receives $15,000, also a $5,000 bump and third place receives $7,500, $2,500 more than in 2018.

Boston Marathon record bonus
The Boston Marathon was the first Abbott World Marathon Major event to offer equal course record bonuses across open and wheelchair divisions, and the first event to provide a designated prize purse for athletes with upper limb, lower limb, and visual impairments.
Whoever breaks the open and wheelchair course record will receive a bonus of $50,000.

Boston Marathon open and wheechair record time
Men and women masters runners receive $50,000 for breaking their division record and so does the push-rim wheelchair participants.
Beating the Boston Marathon open record time of 2:03:02 and 1:17:06 will land him another $50,000.
