Former player claims the manager needs to be challenging for the title come Christmas
John Aldridge has warned Brendan Rodgers that he could be facing the sack if Liverpool aren’t in the top four by Christmas.
The Reds had a torrid season last campaign and it led to many calling for Rodgers to be sacked. It was a massive turnaround from the season before, when the club came agonisingly close to winning a first Premier League title, only to lose at the final hurdle.
Former player Aldridge has warned that the Reds can’t make the same mistakes as last season next time around, otherwise Rodgers may find himself out of a job.
Aldridge Warning
Aldridge said: “Next season is going to be a massive one for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool. He needs to get off to a flier because Liverpool fans have become used to success at the club.
“The team needs to get into winning form because by Christmas Liverpool have to be right up there at the top. If they are not in the top three or four by Christmas, Brendan will find himself under a tremendous amount of pressure.
“Being a manager can be a lonely job when things aren’t going your way. Brendan can’t afford another disappointing season.”
