Pat Nevin has heaped praise on Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen for his excellent performance
Pat Nevin has sent Conte a message about Andreas Christensen after the Chelsea defender kept Romelu Lukaku quiet in last weekend’s 1-0 win against Manchester United.
Antonio Conte made the controversial decision to start Christensen ahead of David Luiz for the visit of Manchester United in the Premier League.
Christensen came up against his former Chelsea team-mate Lukaku as part of a back three alongside Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill.
The 21-year-old Danish defender impressed during the clash limiting Lukaku’s impact on the Premier League Champions.
Christensen won two tackles and won four headers to help the Blues keep a clean sheet despite their shocking recent poor defensive form.
Former Chelsea winger Nevin singled out the Denmark international for his tremendous performance up against Lukaku at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
“Christensen comes in. He was phenomenal. He didn’t lose one battle with Lukaku,” Nevin told Newstalk.
