The defender could stay in Serie A

According to talkSPORT.com, Napoli have made a £21 million bid for AS Roma’s starlet centre-back Alessio Romagnoli.

Romagnoli, dubbed as the ‘new Nesta’, has attracted interest from Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea; and the two London rivals have been scouting him.

However, according to the Italian media outlet La Repubblica, Arsenal will not try to rival Napoli’s offer for the Italy Under 21s international.

BUT the Naples based club are hoping that financial powerhouses Chelsea will also not try and better the £21 million bid.

Roma will use the money to strengthen their attack

The money Roma will make from the sale of the 20-year old Romagnoli will go towards strengthening their competition in the centre forward position.

The club from the Italian capital are looking to materialise a move for out-of-favour Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
