Arsenal target Lorenzo Insigne appears to have snubbed the clubs advances, in favour of signing a new deal with Napoli, according to reports.

It is believed that the 25 year-old Italian has been on the Gunners radar for a while, but news out of Italy today is reporting that he will instead choose to sign a new deal for Napoli, rather than move elsewhere.

Insigne has been capped for his country 13 times and is a key player for Napoli.

Arsenal are currently dealing with a lot of “fan trouble”, with fans at odds over the future of Arsene Wenger, and after a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out, the news that yet another player has rejected the chance to join them is the last thing Gunners fans will want to hear.

With a tricky game against a much improved Hull City next on the list, news of a potential big signing would no doubt lift the spirits of many supporters, and potentially even earn back Arsene Wenger some support – even if only a small amount.

But with Insigne poised to sign a new contract with Napoli, Arsenal fans will feel this is yet another big target allowed to slip through the net, something that they have been dealing with for a few seasons.

Despite the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, many fans still feel that Arsenal are lacking in certain areas, and believe that bringing in some star-power to fill these areas would be the best thing for the club.

Although Insigne now seems unlikely, it is believed that Arsenal will look to other targets to bring in during the summer – with our without Arsene Wenger at the helm.

How much money the club will be willing to spend is unknown, as is usually the case with Arsenal.

Who do you think Arsenal should bring to North London?
