Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski is eyeing up a move back to Cologne, writes our man Darren Lewis.

The 28-year-old still has two years left on his deal at the Emirates but joined his former team-mates for their promotion party as they returned to the Bundesliga.

And Podolski admitted he would be interested in going back to the club he joined as a 10-year-old.

The German said: “In the Bundesliga, my thoughts naturally turn first to Cologne. That is much more than a club for me, this is my home.

“Maybe I’ll play again with them, this is for me always an option and matter of the heart.

Meanwhile, Arsenal look set to miss out in their pursuit of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Frenchman has been scouted by the Gunners – as well as Manchester United – but insisted he won’t force a move, should the Saints say he isn’t for sale.

Schneiderlin said: “We know top teams are watching us.

“But as long as we don’t receive a concrete offer, and as long as the club says they won’t sell, I will never force a transfer.”

And could record signing Mesut Ozil be about to leave north London for a ÂŁ30m move to Barcelona after just a single Premier League season?

The German only moved to north London from Real Madrid last summer but after an excellent start, has since faded due to fitness and form problems.

And Barcelona TV have claimed the Catalan giants are ready to take Ozil back to Spain, after their transfer ban was dropped.

However, it is unlikely Arsene Wenger would be willing to accept an offer substantially lower than the club-record ÂŁ42.5million they paid Real last year.

According to the Daily Star, Bacary Sagna has decided he will quit Arsenal this summer – and could join either Manchester United or rivals City.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has become frustrated with the club’s failure to meet his demands.

And despite interest from the likes of Galatasaray and Inter Milan, Sagna is keen to stay in the Premier League and could be heading for Manchester.

City look favourites to land the Frenchman, although he will face a challenge to displace current right-back Pablo Zabaleta at the Etihad.
