Chelsea make transfer enquiry for PSG defender Marquinhos after missing out on John Stones
This is according to French news outlet RMC who believe Chelsea have made an enquiry for the 21 year old Brazilian.
It is thought that Manchester United are currently in talks with the player but Chelsea will attempt to hijack this move which if successful would be the 2nd player this summer that had chosen Chelsea over Man Utd with Pedro having done that just a few weeks ago.
However, it has also been reported that PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has responded to the enquiry by stating “don’t even bother making an offer”.
Chelsea need defensive reinforcements
The great Mourinho sides of the past have been built on a solid defence but Chelsea have already conceded 9 goals in just 4 league games and with John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic in particular having shaky starts to the season, Mourinho knows he needs to bring a defender in.
After his long pursuit of John Stones finally looks to be over, it seems Mourinho has turned to Marquinhos as the answer to Chelsea’s defensive woes. Whether he can bring him to Chelsea is another question.
