German giants Bayern Munich have made contact with Arsenal about the availability of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

After an impressive first season at the Emirates Stadium after a £33m move two years ago, Sanchez has been hampered this term by a hamstring injury, which caused him to miss two months of action, and poor form.

He has two years left on his current deal, worth around ÂŁ130,000 per week.

While Arsenal are keen to tie both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new deals, none have been formally agreed as of yet.

Ozil is thought to be close to agreeing a new deal, but Sanchez appears to be a bit further away from completion.

Bayern are seemingly keen to test the resolve of Arsene Wenger.

Sanchez has shown signs of his old form in recent weeks, with goals against Watford, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

However, he needs support up front, with Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott all needing to be more prolific.

Incoming Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti has made signing Sanchez one of his priorities when he takes the hotseat this summer.

With Arsenal’s title challenge falling by the wayside once again, he may fancy a move to a squad genuinely capable of challenging for the Champions League.
