Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has criticised Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team for their tendency to go to the ground too easily.

Mourinho is known for his mind games from past seasons and has chosen to target the league leaders ahead of the huge local derby today between the two Manchester teams.

Manchester United are eight points behind City and will hope a win today at Old Trafford will get them back into the title race with Guardiola’s men.

But while Mourinho was full of praise for Pep Guardiola and his team, he also made some disparaging comments about the teams tendency to go to the ground too easily.

They are a good team,” Mourinho said. “They defend well, they react well to the moment they lose the ball.

“They have a good dynamic in attack, they have creative movement.

“They have amazing players, they have a fantastic coach, they have lots of good things.

“If you ask me one thing that I don’t like a lot it’s that they lose their balance very easily.

“You know, a little bit of wind and they fall.”

Mourinho has targeted the league leaders in the past with mind games when last season he commented on Chelsea’s defensive tactics whilst winning the league.

Recently, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger accused City’s Raheem Sterling of diving while Burnley boss Sean Dyche thought Bernardo Silva went down too easily to earn a penalty against his men earlier on in the season.
