Liverpool and Chelsea target Van Dijk speaks out over transfer rumours
Liverpool and Chelsea target Virgil van Dijk has finally broken his silence about rumours linking him with a January move away from Southampton.
The Dutch defender tried and failed to force a move away from St. Mary’s in the summer with the Reds particularly interested, and went as far as going on strike and being made to train separately by the Saints.
He is now back in the set-up for Mauricio Pellegrino’s team, but is still likely to make the move to a bigger club in the upcoming year. He spoke about the rumours this week.
“Firstly, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment on anything that happened before.” he was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“I am giving 100 per cent for the club. I work hard every day, I help my team-mates, I’m positive and I want to win every game.
“Right now I am happy and that’s the most important thing so we will just see what happens.” he continued.
Van Dijk could be an option for Chelsea if David Luiz doesn’t resolve his differences with Antonio Conte. The Brazilian was left out for their weekend win over Manchester United and according to Conte, may not have a future at the club.
Liverpool on the other hand are desperate for defensive reinforcements, and have made Van Dijk their top target for the January transfer window.
