Joe Allen criticises Liverpool

The Welshman joined Stoke for £13 million earlier this summer

Joe Allen has publicly criticised Liverpool’s handling of his departure to Stoke City.

The Wales international impressed at Euro 2016 and attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

However, he has insisted that he only found out about his move to the Potters via a text message from his friend.

Allen, 26, was also on holiday when he received the text.

‘disappointing’

“I had a text message off a friend congratulating me about making the move when I didn’t even know it was happening at the time,” said Allen.

“Not knowing whether the club intend to sell you or keep you, especially when you’re trying to ask the question, is disappointing.”

“To find out they accepted an offer through the press isn’t the best way of going about business,” he added.

“The communication wasn’t great but as soon as Liverpool accepted an offer I knew what their intentions were for me.”

The way all levels of ‘Employee’ are treated these days is disgusting, first point of contact for the club/employer here should have been employee, as He’s under contract the terms of any deal should have been disclosed to Him not the press.
